February Squat Challenge

On Sunday February 1st, I started a squat challenge on Facebook. I have the schedule made up as increasing by 5 each day, with days 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 and 28 as rest days. I do the squats as well as my regular scheduled workout. If anyone would like to join, please let me know. The reason I created the challenge was to get friends that are not familiar with working out, to start out slowly.

My 21 day Fix trial week

Ok, since I didn’t have all the ingredients for the meals on the program, I did a trial week. I did really well except for the last few days. Things got off track. I did lose .9 of a pound though. I went grocery shopping this afternoon and bought ingredients for the meals. Now the only thing I have to decide is what to have for my first meal this evening.

Restarting the 21 day Fix

I am restarting the 21 day Fix after having a rough time last week health wise. According to my calorie target, I am to have 5 green containers(veggies), 3 purple(fruit), 5 red(protein), 4 yellow(carbs), 1 blue(dairy/cheese) and 1 seed/nuts and 5 teaspoons. I will post my results each Sunday as to how I did the previous week. Stay tuned!!

My workouts

I started out by doing two rounds of Slim In 6, which was already here at home and I didn’t know it. I did really well with that as it was my first program. Then my coach, John Schneider, recommended ChaLean Extreme. I found muscles I never knew I had. Lol. Once I completed all three phases of that workout, I tried doing a hybrid workout-a combination of two programs. That was too much for me to keep up with, so I went back to Slim In 6 for awhile. Whenever I didn’t have the energy to do a full workout, I would do my floor exercises(back stretches, crunches and reverse crunches). I was doing another round of Slim In 6 at the end of 2013. I worked out on January 1st and 2nd 2014. I haven’t been able to do a Beachbody workout since the second because I fell at work and broke my left ankle. I am doing upper body exercises and I am in therapy now, so I am doing those as well. I have tried doing my back stretches, crunches and reverse crunches. I am able to do those again. Yay! Once I get done with my stretches or my therapy exercises, I have to put my walking boot back on. If I don’t put my boot back on right away, then I develop pain.

My Beachbody Journey

My journey with Beachbody began on June 27, 2011. A Facebook friend of mine, John Schneider of the Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville fame posted a status on Facebook. He posted that if there was anyone that wanted to get in shape, tone up, lose weight, etc, they were to contact him. I thought “why not?” So I emailed John after reading that post. I honestly didn’t expect him to reply back, but he did. John and I emailed each other a good bit in the beginning. John sent me a sample workout video to try for 7 days. John said he wanted to talk in a week. On July 12, 2011 John did call me. I wasn’t ready for what John was going to tell me. He told me more about what changes I’d have to make to my diet. During the call, John told me he wanted me as a coach on his Beachbody team. What really shocked me was when John requested weekly updates from me. I joined his team on October 17, 2011. I think it is the best decision I’ve ever made.

A little about me

I am 36 years old. I was born with Cerebral Palsy, Hydrocephalus(water on the brain), epilepsy and a seizure disorder. I have been on seizure medicine my whole life. One of the side effects of my medicine is weight gain. I really put the weight on in second grade. I have tried all of the so called “diets” but nothing ever really worked because I would get bored with what I was doing. This blog will be about my weight loss journey and how I got to where I am now. So stay tuned for more posts.
